Pigeon problem for Troon sheltered housing residents

Residents at a sheltered housing complex in Troon are battling against pigeons which are causing major problems at their property.

People at Bradan Road in Troon have been fighting for years to solve the problem of the feathered pests.

The problem should have been fixed months ago, however now South Ayrshire Council, which owns the unit, has said there is no money.

Bradan Road has solar panels installed on the complex’s roof and the pigeons have wriggled into the gaps between the panels and started nesting.

You can read more on this story here on the Ayrshire Post website.

SHOOT THEM...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish the folk of Troon would stop feeding the pigeons like they were some sort of pet... these birds carry more diseases than a sewer rat, it's not just Bradan Road... it all over Troon.. Portland Street to Tempelhill... WAKE UP SOUTH AYRSHIRE COUNCIL...!!! a few weeks of shooting and a few weeks of hawk flying would help...... You dont let rats run up and down the street but you let flying rats fly over the top of us and set up home on folks roofs and window sills....

I wonder if the same can be said of the massive Seagulls (not the other species) that seem to dominate the Troon area.

I once lightheartedly commented on these large seagulls in an attempt to find out if like certain pigeon species, these coul be eaten. I mentioned that you wouldn't need salt in the cooking process!

It didn't go down well at a 'local' wildlife sanctuary where they were often rescued! Seriously though these large gulls could be considered a nuisance, some reportedly coming down for a free fish supper!
