Troon firefighters honoured for long and brave service

Firefighters from the Troon station have been presented with medals marking over 60 years of dedicated service to the local area.

The three firefighters, Bobby Wyllie, Ian Fisher and Martin Doherty were presented with their 20-year long service and good conduct awards by Group Commander Billy Thomson. Between them, they have responded to thousands of calls for help in Troon and the surrounding area.

Over the last 20 years the Troon firefighters have tackled 376 house fires, 1,398 grass and rubbish fires, 1,007 false alarms and 203 malicious false alarms - all be while working on their other, full-time jobs.
