Everyone in Troon can post to s1Troon, but we have to have a few rules to make sure everyone is properly protected and gets the most out of the site. Please read these before posting any material to s1Troon.
All items posted on s1Troon must be directly relevant to Troon or the people who live there.
Register using your real name and a valid email address (we'll keep your email secret). It builds a real sense of community if we all know who we're dealing with – even more so if you add a picture of yourself. Material posted with a fake name, email address or picture may be deleted.
Which means you might not see your material appear immediately. As we get to know you, we'll check your postings less – but we will find and remove inappropriate content.
Religious bigotry, sexism, homophobia and racism won't be tolerated. Vulgar and abusive language is likely to be deleted. No adult services may be advertised and the editor's decision on what constitutes an adult service will be final.
Robust debate is encouraged, but personal attacks on individuals are liable to be edited or deleted. Material which is considered defamatory in any way is liable to be deleted.
We define news pretty broadly. If it's local, current and interests you, then it's news. However, we don't allow advertising in our News section, and if your news story refers to a forthcoming event, you must also post it to our What's On section or via www.scotlistings.com before we will allow it to go live.
Businesses may instead advertise using our Adbuilder service. Events such as concerts and jumble sales may only be added to the noticeboard if they have been added to our What's On section or via www.scotlistings.com first.
All local societies, clubs, businesses and other organisations are welcome to build their own page in s1Troon's Groups section. However:
You must own the rights to any pictures, video, audio and other material you post to s1Troon By posting you are agreeing to indemnify us against any claims or other expenses arising from the posting of material to which you don’t own the rights. All material you post to s1Troon will remain your property, but by posting it you are granting us the right to use it on any other s1 or Herald & Times websites or publications, without limitation.
For more detail please consult our terms and conditions, and please stick to these policies when posting to s1Troon.
